Muritala Sule

MURITALA SULE, author of the novel, Shadows of Hunger (Longman 1987) was, with Andy Amenechi and Taiwo Ogundipe, co-creator of, and script contributor to, SPACS, Nigerian Television Authority’s action drama series (1986). He has contributed scripts to such drama programmes as Genius (AIT), Tough Cops (AIT) and Glimpses (NTA Network)

His movie scripts include Ogidi Omo (director, Ralph Nwadike) and Ojunu, which he directed himself. His script for the short film Duty, won a national contest in 2005 and was shot by the Nigerian Film Corporation. Sule won the Distinction Award for Scriptwriting at the 1985 National Scriptwriting Workshop of NTA and has served as a Film Script Consultant to the French Cultural Centre (Embassy of France). His short film script was one of the six that earned a place at the first New Directions Workshop of MNET International in Nigeria, 1998. He is also the author of the novel The Other Children and the play Wetie.

The Creator and Presenter of Lagbo Video (produced and directed by Mahmood Ali-Balogun), the first TV magazine in Nigeria devoted to film industry reports and critiques, Mr. Sule has served on the Screening Panel or Jury of such award platforms as Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), Zuma Film Festival and the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards (YMAA), of which he is the current Chairman.
