Doyin Hassan

Dr. Doyin Hassan started professional acting in 1985 with THE HERETIC a Baba Babs-Fashina and Jimi Odumosu production nominated for The Nigerian Festival of Television Programmes (NIFETEP ’86).  He has featured on many Stage Productions which include: Queen Mina as directed by Israel Eboh at the National Theatre in 1988; the World Premiere of Iku Olokun Esin, an Akinwunmi Ishola’s adaptation of Death and the Kings Horseman written by Wole Soyinka and directed by Segun Ojewuyi in commemoration of Wole Soyinka’s 60th Birthday in 1994; Ola Rotimi’s Kurunmi directed by Olu Akomolafe (Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife ) for NIB 1996 at the Nigerian Law School and the University of Lagos; Wole Soyinka’s Lion and Jewel as directed by Chuck Mike of Performance Studio Workshop in 1994; Kuti Ezebiro’s Not My Abeni at the University of Lagos in 1995; the World Premiere of the ‘Trials of Oba Ovonranmwen’ written by Ahmed Yerimawith The National Troupe of Nigeria in 1996; Ahmed Yerima’s Atahiru with National Troupe of Nigeria in 1998, etc. He has written many Gospel stage scripts and acted in Nigerian Classic films like: Died Wretched (1998), Arrows of God (1998), Sango (1999), Saworoide (1999), Agogo-Eewo (2003), Campus Queen (2003), Arewa (2003), Widows the Mourning After by Jimi Odumosu in 2003, among many others. Doyin has also written and directed films like: Strife of Tongues (2012), Hedge of Protection (2013); Divided Kingdom (2013); The Hurdle (2014); and The United Church.

Doyin Hassan has been a Hair and Make-Up Artiste for over 20 years and he is presently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management Sciences, at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Nigeria.
